The Children's Museum opens its doors

The National Museum of the Romanian Peasant awaits you on Wednesday, March 14, at 5 pm, at the opening of the exhibition "Ivirea. From the spirits to the Spirit", which will take place at the Irina Nicolau Hall.

The European project Childhood. Remains and Heritage / Copilaria. Remains and heritage, coordinated by the National Museum of the Romanian Peasant, offers you the rare opportunity to follow, even to participate (with ideas, objects and stories) in the creation of a virtual museum of childhood. After almost a year of documentation and field research, we start!

To those interested in the theme, we remind you that our ambition is to present in this museum not only the rural traditions, but also the urban ones, not only the distant past, but also the recent one, as well as the present in full change, hoping to highlight not not only local differences, but also the common perception of time and space on childhood.

We start with the opening of the first museum hall, entitled "Ivirea. From spirits to the Spirit". From the question where do the children come from? until it happens with them after death, from magical practices of welcome and dedication to the baptism ceremony, from exciting searches - such as that of a rural equivalent of the bottle, to unexpected discoveries - such as the old ones testimonies of boyish-urban baptism, the course of the exhibition will certainly be thrilling, both for children (who will enjoy a surprise workshop) as well as for parents, educators, ethnologists and grandparents.

The exhibition can be visited until April 15, from Tuesday to Sunday, between 10.00 and 18.00. The entry is free.
