From the beginning of the year until now, the Road Police has registered 69 cases of minor injuries of the minor produced in traffic accidents, compared to 98 registered last year.
Thus, in the first five months of this year, there is a decrease in the number of road accidents caused by minors between the ages of 7 and 14 years, with 27.5 percent compared to 2004. In 92 percent, the causes of accidents occurred there were the crossings of minors through places not allowed.
It seems that the road education programs run by the Capital Road Police Brigade in all educational units have paid off. As a result, in these days, in Bucharest, the final phase of the road and civic education contest took place, within the program "We learn from small to be precursors". The project, carried out in all the school units in the Capital, taught the children how to cross the street.
Following the contest, the first place was won by the General School no. 130, from sector 5, place II - of the General School no. 111, from sector 4, and second place - from the General School no. 120, from sector 4. The prizes consisted in the renovation of the occupying school of the first place and in the redevelopment of the sports field of the school, winner of the second place.
The program was initiated with the start of the 2004-2005 school year and included all the educational units of Bucharest, involving over 87,000 children in grades I-VIII and 200 police officers in the capital. On this occasion, 100,000 timetables and 20,000 posters were printed with useful tips for children on road and civic education issues, materials that were distributed to students by police and school inspectors.
