Biogenis stem cell bank has taken over the entire activity of Freezlife!
Important takeover on the market of stem cell banks in Romania Biogenis took over Freezlife
Stem cell bank Biogenis has taken over the entire activity of Freezlife, the bank specialized in stem cell harvesting in Romania, accredited by ministerial order and authorized by the National Transplant Agency.
As a result of an important evolution in the stem cell market in Romania, Biogenis took over in May this year all the Freezlife samples and activity. It is the first action of its kind on the Romanian market, which aims to increase the level of services offered in the field of stem cell banking and to create a unitary approach from a medical, ethical and commercial point of view. As a result of this action, Biogenis took over the existing contracts of Freezlife clients, thus offering them the entire experience that the bank has in the six years of existence in Romania. Thus, soon the clients' samples and the entire activity of the FreezeLife laboratory will be moved to the Biogenis laboratory, a laboratory that has very high storage capacity and can offer special services for existing and future clients.
Through this takeover, Biogenis wanted to consolidate its position on the Romanian stem cell market. The group we belong to has a presence in 14 countries, being specialized in stem cell banks. This takeover is very important and due to the fact that Freezlife is a bank accredited by order of minister and authorized by the Transplant Authority, thus respecting the standards that our group imposes in such situations. Our group is currently in the process of analyzing the acquisition of other stem cell banks, both in Europe and Romania, this process to be completed by the end of the year. Cristian Lacraru - director of marketing and communication Biogenis, stem cell bank.
FreezeLife and Biogenis started on the road at the time of their establishment, as Romanian stem cell banks, aiming to offer Romanian parents accessible services to western standards. As the market evolved and the number of stem cell banks increased, due to foreign investments, in parallel the competition from companies exporting cord blood to foreign banks increased, it was a matter of time until such a takeover would have to happen to increase the efficiency of the services and to keep the prices at an accessible level. It remains confident that a stem cell bank can ensure maximum quality to its clients only if it has its own laboratory and is accredited for this activity by the National Transplant Agency, Razvan Vintilescu, general manager of Freezlife.
