Half of the children in institutions have mental disabilities

Most children with disabilities, over 10,000, are admitted to institutions under the National Authority for the Protection of the Rights of the Child (ANPDC), shows a study of the Association "Children's High Level Group". Research, recently published, shows that almost half of them children live in care institutions The highest share of children with disabilities is those with mental problems (over 45%), followed by those with multiple disabilities (over 31%) and neuropsychiatric (almost 15%).

In hospitals, a quarter of the hospitalized children suffer from mental disabilities, and in hospitals, the largest proportion are children with hearing (22%) and visual disabilities (ten percent).

At the time of the evaluation, in all three types of institutions, most children with disabilities were between 14 and 18 years old (over 7,000), this age category being followed by those between ten and 13 years.
