The device that detects asthma since childhood

Through the new technology, the rhythm of breathing in sleep is tracked, which allows the diagnosis of the disease including in babies. Children born to smokers or allergic families may develop respiratory conditions such as asthma. If until now this condition was more difficult to diagnose in children who had not turned 4, this is now possible due to a modern device that records the respiratory cycles in sleep. The only place where the device can be found is the Institute for the Protection of the Mother and Child "Alfred Rusescu", from Bucharest.

Respiratory problems affect about 20% of children up to 4 years of age, the most common being wheezing and repeated coughing.

For many of them, the symptoms disappear with age, but there are also situations where they become more pronounced. The little ones are asleep while they are being analyzed and applied to both the nose and mouth a special mask. Specialists say that this is not an anesthesia and that special drugs are used to induce sleep, for the use of which parents have to agree. After administration of medications that dilate the bronchi, the test is repeated, the doctors can finally determine whether or not the baby will develop asthma in the future.
