Singer Madonna has adopted a one-year-old African boy. The Sun published the photo of the singer with a safari hat on her head, smiling and carrying a small child behind the orphanage. Last week, a Madonna spokeswoman denied comments from authorities in Malawi saying that the star adopted a child from this African state.
Two British publications, The Sun and Daily Mail, are now reporting that Madonna has chosen to adopt David Banda, aged 13 months, whose mother died at birth due to complications.
The boy's father, Yohane Banda, was quoted by both publications as saying: "I am very happy. As you can see, there is a lot of poverty in my village." The band, who said he could not afford to raise his son, did not personally meet Madonna, but was told that his son was adopted by "a famous singer from the US." Madonna (48 years) has a daughter, Lourdes, 10 years and a son, Rocco, 6 years.
