The skin of the child, especially of the newborn and the baby, is thinner and more fragile than that of the adult. The superficial layer of the epidermis, the most important in the role of protective barrier, is much thinner in the child than in the adult. This explains why at the slightest aggression there are traces on the skin of the child. And all the fragility of the skin is the reason why the substances in the composition of the care products penetrate more easily through the epidermis of the little ones.
The most dangerous substances that can be found in the composition of baby care products are salicylic acid, urea, dyes, preservatives in large quantities, boric acid (contained in talcum powder), eucalyptus oil, camphor, phenol, gentian violet. For skin care of children, dermatologist Adriana Diaconescu recommends only special products. Washing products can be used from the first bathroom. After the bath, emollient / moisturizing products are used: creams, emulsions, oils. They protect the skin of children prone to atopic dermatitis, dry skin, eczema.
