Event organized by the Pygmalion Sports Dance Club under the aegis of the Romanian Sportive Dance Federation in collaboration with the City Hall of Bucharest and the Romanian Sports Federation for All within the program "O chance for each" - program for the integration of children in art placement centers into society and sports
Pygmalion Cup is an important sporting event on the agenda of FRDS and FRSPT, bringing together every year over 700 athletes from all over the country, over 20 referees who evaluate the performances of the dancers registered in the competition, numerous public spectators, parents, lovers of dance and not in lastly, children from the placement centers as special guests (they will present some artistic moments, prepared together with the Pygmalion Club instructors).
In sports dance the value groups start with the Hobby class (beginners) and continue ascending with the E, D, C, B, A, S. class. The transition to a higher value class is done by accumulating points in national and international competitions.
The minimum age for entry is 6 years, the maximum age being 35, according to the IDSF and FRDS regulations.
The concept and conduct of the contest follow the usual stages of such an event, namely:
- In the interval 9.00-13.00 the qualification of the pairs of optima takes place, in quarters and semifinals by age categories and value group; evolves pairs aged 6-11 years, 12-15 years, over 16 years, value group: Hobby, E, D; the dances commonly used by the competitors of these sections are: English waltz, Viennese waltz, quick step (standard dances) and cha-cha-cha, samba and jive (Latin American dances); the degree of difficulty of the executed figures is average;
- In the second part of the contest, between 14.00-21.00 the qualifications for value groups D, Open Standard and Latino will take place; evolves pairs between the ages of 14-35 years; Besides the dances mentioned above, the competitors of these groups also dance: slow fox, tango (standard dances) and rumba, paso doble (Latin American dances), the degree of difficulty of the performed figures and the spectacularity being great.
