The appendicitis operation can take five minutes and five hours because, if the appendix is not in place, but is hidden behind the liver or other clumps of the abdomen, the surgeon takes time until he discovers the hiding place.
Regarding the appendicitis crisis, medicine has not completely lifted the curtain on all aspects, for example, science cannot yet provide a solid explanation as to the reasons that trigger an acute appendicitis. However, in the world of surgery a motto works: "It is better to remove an appendix, even innocent, than to postpone the intervention to remove it, risking the repetition of the crisis more violently and with greater danger to appear a perforated appendicitis".
It is said, however, that the appendix would also play a role, being part of a chain of immune defense. But the body can dispense appendages and when signs of appendicitis appear better the surgeon removes it.
