More than 350 outpatient dentists and about 100 hospitals are in contract with the Health Insurance House of Bucharest, but few people benefit from free medical services in this area.
"The rates should be cheaper by 40% -60%, or even free, in some cases," says Vasile Cepoi, director of the National House of Health Insurance. In adults, emergency dental services are generally settled, and in children, most interventions should be free, including teeth straightening devices.
Few parents find out about this and they pay for the interventions. "We settle the cheapest machine," says Cristina Calinoiu, spokesman at CASMB.
The cheapest devices, doctors say, are generally the worst. Even so, the costs of such devices, in the second category of efficiency, reach somewhere around nine million lei.
"It is about mobile devices, whose efficiency is 20% -30%. Some of them cause pain, injuries and cannot control the position of the teeth three-dimensional," explains the dentist Dragos Epistatu. Fixed appliances, rated by dentists as the best, can reach up to 2,000-3,000 euros, and the cheapest ones cost about 1,000 euros.
Among the polyclinics that work, partially, in the state regime are: University Polyclinic, as well as neighborhood polyclinics, such as Drumul Taberei no. 34 and Titan.
